Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- I beseech you therefore, brethren,
- by the mercies of God,
- that ye present your bodies
- a living sacrifice,
- holy,
- acceptable unto God,
- which is your reasonable service.
- And be not conformed to this world:
- but be ye transformed
- by the renewing of your mind,
- that ye may prove what is that good,
- and acceptable,
- and perfect,
- will of God.
I beseech you therefore, brethren,
To beseech, – to invite, to invoke, to exhort, to urgently pray.
Paul’s desire was for each one of us to take heed of what to do next.
by the mercies of God,
To do it with the compassion, love and forgiveness of God
that ye present your bodies
That we stand before God as our complete selves (Spirit, Soul, Body and mind)
a living sacrifice,
The animal for a sacrifice was to be perfect, without spot or blemish.
We should have a life without spot or blemish. This can be done by constant examination of ourselves with repentance and forgiveness.
holy,
Separated, individually and not as a group,
acceptable unto God,
Righteous, with God’s righteousness through Jesus Christ. Righteousness is not a onetime thing but a way of life.
which is your reasonable service.
Divine service or worship.
To worship is to respect and honour. We respect and honour our earthly parents by the life that we live and the success that we have, in the same way we should be honouring God by the life that we live.
And be not conformed to this world:
Stop assuming an outward expression that does not come from within you and is not representative of what you are, a child of God, but fashioned on the world around you.
but be ye transformed
Change and be your true self, and not what you think others want to see.
by the renewing of your mind,
Change your way of thinking and fill your mind with the right things of God to replace the wrong things of the world.
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.
The will of God for each one of us is to be righteous and holy in His sight, to walk and talk with Him in the cool of the day, to be what He made us to be: a companion and friend.
God’s will for us is simply to be one with Him. He is more concerned with us getting there than how we get there.
