When you compromise you lose the very thing that you compromised to gain.
God never compromises.
Mal_3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;
Heb_13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
When we compromise with somebody we do it to gain their allegiance but in doing so we give away control of the situation. It weakens us and strengthens them.
In the Garden of Eden was the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, bad is normally translated as evil.
As man we tend to see:
- Good as good
- Bad as not so good
- Evil as very bad.
- God is good
- Man is bad
- Devil is evil.
This gives us an area in the middle of uncertainty or the area of compromise. This is man’s area and not God’s and when we live in this area we are not in the presence of God.
In Deuteronomy chapter 28 we read the blessings and cursing’s of God.
In Mathew chapter 5 Jesus reiterates this in the Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus clearly tells us in this that there is no compromise.
To think about adultery is just as bad as doing it.
Taking the log out of your own eye before you take the splint out of anothers.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Jesus said;
Joh_14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
There is only one way to God and that is His way.
Religion is man’s way of trying to reach God and as we look at all the different religions we see them full of compromises to benefit man, the people that follow the religions tend to find the one that suits them and then follow that. Even in the Christian denominations we see that each has its own man made beliefs that the people are to follow, often making these ways more important than the truths of God.
Throughout the Bible we see that God shows man His way and also what happens to man when he compromises.
The Israelites were plagued by the Amalekites.
Joshua stopped winning battles.
Samson lost his strength.
Compromise is not freedom.
Joh_8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
It is only when we know the truth and walk in the truth that we are free to be one with God.
